We’re looking ahead to the forecast for the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend. Where can you expect Mother Nature to provide her own fireworks show?

The pattern looks fairly unsettled for much of the eastern half of the lower 48. Afternoon storms will be a good bet in the muggy Southeast each day. Some episodes of severe weather are even possible from the Central Plains into the Midwest. The Northeast will see a decent chance of showers and storms, especially during the afternoon, except on Monday. The big televised fireworks shows along the East coast may have some storms to duck on Tuesday.

The West looks quiet by contrast. However, residents of interior California, the Desert Southwest, and the Southern High Plains will have the typical scorching heat to contend with.
