Severe storms will move through the Plains and Midwest this afternoon into the night.

A cold front and instability will contribute to storms developing later today. In the Dakotas and Minnesota region, wind and hail will be the main threats. Storms will start to fire around 6 pm CDT and end after midnight.

Over in the Midwest, storms are already happening, but redevelopment is expect later today. The area where storms erupt this afternoon is where the greatest threat for severe weather will occur. Wind is the major concern due to a line of storms that will move through southern Wisconsin, eastern Iowa and northern Illinois. This line could cause a lot of wind damage through the night. Some tornado spin ups are also not ruled out.

Chicago metro area will start seeing storms around 11 pm CDT where the more severe storms will end around 1 am CDT.
